Video Mashup

I chose a wide variety of clips for this project. I used a lot of videos of rich and powerful men (politicians and celebrities alike) who have gotten accused of sexual and physical assault. For the audio, I used songs by a man who abused his girlfriend, and another song that is supposed to be "sexy" but ends up sounding like a cringy song condoning rape culture. I also used the song "Happy" ironically in this song. I chose all these sounds and clips because I thought they sent a powerful message.

I juxtaposed graphic videos of violence against women with videos of people mocking feminism. I also made lasers shoot out of some of the men's eyeballs for comical purposes, and used pictures of them smiling and drew hearts around some of them. My "romanticization" of these creeps was purely satirical. 

I like the variety of videos I used. I wish I was better at editing videos. Since I used Photoshop to make this, I wasn't as "successful" at creating the vision I had in my head. For example, I wanted to zoom in on Brock Turner's face with the song "Happy" playing in the background, but instead had to settle with just the lasers shooting out of his eyeballs. In the future, I hope I can at least animate those lasers.

For me the most difficult part of this mashup was using Photoshop to create the video. This was my first time ever editing a video on there but since I made it on a school computer, I could not use the recommended software. I had to google and learn a lot of new things as I went along but at least I learned something new! This project taught me that I have a really dark sense of humor. It also taught me how to edit videos on Photoshop, which is extremely powerful! For example, I was able to add a lot of images to the video which made it look super cringy but in a good way.
